Dennis
Hill ... Solo Entertainer!
|
*
Dennis Hill might
be called a "Human Jukebox", if only for the huge number of songs
he's able to perform. His song list numbers nearly 500 Pop, Rock, & Country hits
from the mid 50’s thru the mid 90’s plus a few 2000’s. Songs
that hit the charts, very recognizable. Dennis is able to perform
this huge variety because he is such an incredibly versatile vocalist,
transitioning seamlessly through contrasting styles, giving each an
authentic effort that accurately displays each tune's diversity.
Dennis encourages requests, enabling
him to shape his performance to fit the audience. Even if he can't
perform every specific song requested, Dennis is usually able to do a
song by the same artist or a song that fits the same musical genre.
His radio background (see bio below) is an integral part
of his show as he often adds interesting bits of information about the
songs and the artists that originally performed them. Dennis is also
available to handle emcee duties at your event.
* Dennis performs ‘live’ on acoustic
guitar, backed up by additional sounds provided by the latest midi &
digital technology. This enables his stage performances to feature a
‘full band’ sound complete with drums, bass, strings, brass, and any
other instrument you can imagine. This technology also allows for
excellent ‘volume control’.
* A traditional style acoustic performance
(without the midi backup) is
available as well.
* Past Performances have included: Culver's
Restaurant of Corydon, Huber Winery &
Orchard, Kosair Shrine Club, Joe Huber’s
Family Farm & Restaurant, The Jefferson Club, The Pendennis Club,
Turtle Run Winery, Corydon’s ‘Old
Settler’s Days’ & ‘4th Of July Celebration’, The Harrison County Popcorn
Festival, Sellersburg’s ‘Art In Speed Park’, Clifton's
Pizza Company, and several Indiana State Parks.

Here's a comment from a couple that
hired Dennis to perform at their wedding reception ...
"My wife and I had heard about Dennis Hill and we were able to see
him perform on the town square. I inquired about hiring him to play
at our wedding reception. We found his fee to be extremely
reasonable and so we booked him. Prior to the reception we tried to
get a feel for his style/music by visiting him at a few of his
shows. We were both impressed at how he could "work an audience"
while at the same time perform with great musicianship. We talked
about certain songs we would like to be played at our reception and
he was even willing to learn a some of them! We did not expect him
to learn any song specifically for us, but he did it anyway."
"With Dennis Hill you definitely get a great package and your
money's worth. His charisma combines with great music and you will
certainly be pleased!"

Additional Biographical Information
About Dennis Hill, Solo Entertainer |
Dennis
Hill was born and raised in Flint, Michigan.
While at Michigan Technological University, Dennis began a career in
radio broadcasting that eventually brought him to Corydon,
Indiana as owner/operator of WJDW-AM & FM. You may have also heard
Dennis "on-air" as a Louisville radio personality on 98.9 FM,
"The Hawk". He left the radio business late in '01 after a 2 year
stint as Operations Mgr. for the Kentucky News Network. His music performing career began
in 1974 Michigan with a 5-piece show band, "STEEL-Satin",
a group that became popular enough to eventually work 'full-time'
for about a year and a half 'on the
road' in Michigan, Kansas, South Dakota, Wyoming, Iowa, and 3 months in
Canada. Not long after moving to Corydon in 1979, Dennis formed the "MUSICYCLE Variety Entertainment Show.",
which featured music, choreography, costumes, and comedy. The
MUSICYCLE performed at several area festivals, Indiana State
Parks, conventions, and other events, often traveling as far as Hot
Springs, Arkansas, St. Louis, Missouri, Flint, Michigan, &
Cincinnati, Ohio. Dennis began working in his home recording studio
with J.P. Mattingly in 1985, producing a solo cassette album
("Secrets") and a couple of duo projects with J.P. as a 'studio'
group called "URSA MINOR". They began performing together
'live' as part of a trio called "GYPSY" before
forming Wapituli in 1999.

information on Wapituli.
Dennis also teams up with
Lori Clark to sing at a few venues in the Louisville area.

information on Dennis & Lori. Throughout the past 20 years,
though, Dennis has
performed mostly as a solo entertainer. |
